Police: Student Brings Pellet Gun To School.  Anne Arundel County police said a 17-year-old student was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of a weapon on school property. Officials said the school resource officer assigned to Southern High School, in the 4400 block of Solomons Island Road in Harwood, went to the school cafeteria around 11 a.m. at the end of lunch after being told that a student possibly had a weapon.

Franchot Urges Voters to Reject Congressional Redistricting Map.  Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is urging voters to reject the state’s congressional redistricting map, which will be on the ballot as Question 5 in November. Franchot, a Democrat, spoke out against the map Tuesday on WBAL Radio’s “The C4 Show.” The comptroller said the redistricting process has embarrassed the state and further eroded public confidence in the state’s political process. Franchot said that while he’s a Democrat, he would prefer to see Democrats win fair contests, “ones that aren’t fixed before the election.”

Clinton Visits Baltimore, Talks Global Issues. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke to a packed audience in Baltimore on Tuesday evening, but audience members said politics didn’t dominate the conversation, even as the stage was being set for the second presidential debate. Clinton spoke to a sold-out crowd of about 2,300 people at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. News crews weren’t allowed into the event, but audience members said the former president touched on global to domestic issues.

Baltimore School Bus Collides With Van, 13 Injured. A collision between a school bus and a passenger minivan injured 13 people in Baltimore on Tuesday afternoon. Fire officials said the bus and van collided at Ensor and Madison streets just after 3 p.m. The van was pinned against an apartment building wall as a result, officials said.
