Local Author Releases First Novel

Sara Walsh, young adult fantasy author and Annapolis resident, released The Dark Light (Simon & Schuster, Simon Pulse) this week in a nationwide release.

The town of Crownsville provided a final piece to the puzzle, allowing Walsh to start the novel she finished only five months after moving to Annapolis. “The book was taking shape in my mind for months, but a name for the hometown of main character, seventeen-year-old Mia, eluded me. As we drove into town for the first time when moving to Annapolis, I saw the sign for Crownsville and knew that was the name of the town. I could now begin the book”.

Originally from Britain, Walsh moved from Kansas City to Annapolis with her American husband three years ago. “Starting with the Crownsville name, the move to Annapolis really saw things fall into place for The Dark Light.” Walsh finished the novel in five short months, quickly found a literary agent, and sold the book to major publisher Simon & Schuster in a few short weeks.

The book is available in hardback and electronic formats at Barnes & Noble’s nationwide, as well as other book sellers, and online at Amazon, and other online retailers.
