Fall Educational Events Presented By The Summit School

As a school for children with dyslexia and other learning differences, Summit strives to educate the community on learning differences, assessment, practical strategies, and how these difficulties affect school achievement. The Summit School is pleased to announce five fall events available for general public attendance.   • Wednesday, September 19 – FREE Workshop – Assessing Children Who Struggle in School presented by Dr. Michael Castleberry, Director of Clinical Education, from 8:45am-10:00am at The Summit School.
  • Wednesday, October 3 – FREE Workshop – Executive Function Dysfunction: Why Some Children Struggle in School presented by Dr. Joan Mele-McCarthy, Head of School, from 8:45am-10:00am at The Summit School.
  • Saturday, November 3 – The Zelma Wynn Symposium on New Generations of High-Tech Youth: How We Teach Them and Parent Them presented by Dr. Larry D. Rosen, international expert in the “Psychology of Technology” and author of iDisorder, from 8:30am-3:30pm at The Summit School. Fee to attend (including an early bird rate).   • Thursday, November 8 – FREE Seminar – What is this thing called Dyslexia? presented by Dr. Jane R. Snider, Founding Executive Director, from 7:00pm-8:30pm at The Severna Park Community Center.
  • Friday, November 16– FREE Workshop – Strategies to Make Sense of Mathematics for Students Who Learn Differently presented by Dr. Honi Bamberger, Professor of Mathematics at Towson University, from 8:45am-10:00am at The Summit School. This session will focus on middle- to upper-school students.
