3 Men Arrested In Connection With Reported Shooting In Millersville

On September 28, 2012, at approximately 4:15 pm, officers from the Eastern District responded to a reported shooting in the area of Old Mill Road and Veterans Highway, Millersville, Maryland.  The initial information indicated a person in this area was shooting at a male who was running towards a nearby fast food restaurant. Officers were given a lookout for a vehicle potentially involved in the incident.  An officer who was responding to the shooting call saw a vehicle matching the description; the officer conducted a traffic stop on Veterans Highway near Crain Highway.

Although the driver of the suspect vehicle initiallystopped, the driver drove away as the officer exited his police car.  The driver of the suspect vehicle turned right on Green Branch Land, left onto Green Leaf Terrace and drove to the end of the court where two passengers fled the vehicle on foot.  The driver was immediately apprehended; the two passengers who fled were apprehended nearby a short time later.  The handgun officers believe that was used during the initial shooting call was found in a wooded area along Green Leaf Terrace.

The person or persons who were being shot at did not come forward and have not been identified at this time.  The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.  Three persons were arrested as a result of the traffic stop and recovered handgun.

  • Suspect #1- Dwight Herbert Howard, 23 years old, 8200 Severn Orchard Circle, Severn, MD. Charged with a handgun violation and disorderly conduct.
  • Suspect #2- Jonathan Dean Hunter, 22 years old, 8200 Severn Orchard Circle Severn, MD. Charged with handgun-related offenses
  • Suspect #3- David Casey Howard, 29 years old, 105 Ralph Road Glen Burnie, MD. Charged with traffic-related violations
