Marcus Antonio Anderson, 27, of Odenton was killed last night when his 2002 Lincoln crashed head-on into an MTA bus on 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie. A juvenile in his car was injured and transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment. Of the eleven people on the bis, all but two were injured and transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Vehicle #1 (Lincoln) was traveling east on 8th Avenue, just west of Crain Highway, when it failed to negotiate a curve to the right, causing it to cross over the center line and travel into the oncoming lane. Vehicle #1 then drove head-on into the #14 MTA transit bus that had been traveling westbound on 8th Avenue.
As a result of the impact, Vehicle #1 was driven backwards more than 40 feet, caught fire and came to rest in the eastbound lane next to Vehicle #2. Initial responding officers were able to extinguish the fire before anyone sustained any fire related injuries.
As a result of the collision, the driver of Vehicle #1 sustained fatal injuries, being pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
The passenger of Vehicle #1 (14 years old) was transported to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center where he was reported in stable condition.
The driver of the bus and 8 of the 10 passengers of Vehicle #2 were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
At this time it is unknown if alcohol or drugs contributed to the cause of this collision.
Neither occupant of Vehicle #1 was restrained by their seatbelt. The driver of Vehicle #2 was restrained by her seat belt. Vehicle #2 was not equipped with any seatbelts in the passenger area.
Speed and driver error on behalf of the driver of Vehicle #1 are considered to be major contributing factors into the cause of this collision.
Investigation into this collision continues.
