On Thursday, October 18th, 2012 Friends of the Light House and Annapolis Towne Centre merchants will host a food/beverage tasting and fashion show. The event will be held inside Great Gatherings at the Towne Centre, from 7 to 10 p.m. 100% of proceeds from the event will benefit the Annapolis Light House, a homeless prevention and support center. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $30 or at the door for $35. They may be purchased online at www.friendslhs.org or in person at Great Gatherings andAs Kindred Spirits at the Annapolis Towne Centre.

The evening’s activities will include food and beverage tasting stations provided by most of the Towne Centre restaurants – including Brio, Paladar, Whole Foods, Chop House, Zoe’s Kitchen, Gordon Biersch, Cadillac Ranch, and Metro Diner.

Models will show fashions provided by Towne Centre fashion retailers – including a la Mode, As Kindred Spirits, Brooks Brothers, lululemon, Lucy, Poppy and Stella, Eastern Mountain Sports, Coldwater Creek, Charm City Run, and Talbots. Hair and make-up for the models will be provided by About Faces, Origins, & Hair Cuttery.

The evening will also include a silent auction and raffle, with items donated by various Towne Centre merchants – including As Kindred Spirits, Restoration Hardware, Sur la Table, Great Gatherings, Origins, Menchie’s, and others. Each guest will receive a gift bag filled with coupons and other fun items. This year there is a DJ donating his time for music and some dancing. Great Gatherings will be opening their game tables for guests’ enjoyment.

The fashion show event has become collaboration between merchants of the Annapolis Towne Centre and Friends of the Light House. The event was conceived by Janet Roessler and Chitra Gunderson of As Kindred Spirits, who were looking for a fun way to get merchants at the Annapolis Towne Centre involved in serving their community. As Janet says, “In tough economic times like these, it is very important to support programs like those at the Light House that make such a difference in people’s lives.” Ms. Roessler also noted,” Not everyone can afford the $150 tickets to a gala, that’s why we decided to make this event very affordable so everyone can help support this very worthy cause.”

Eric Stalzer, District Manager of Great Gatherings, states, “What is refreshing about the Light House is that it does more than just solve an immediate need; it helps its residents to become self-sufficient by teaching life skills. The Annapolis Light House offers self-worth and self-reliance along with food and shelter.”

Friends of the Light House in an independent non-profit organization working in partnership with the Annapolis Light House to rebuild lives by providing shelter, preventing homelessness and empowering people as they move toward independence.
