Crowds Welcome Feeks; Westboro Baptist Church Plans To Protest

Under an overcast sky, hundreds of people lined Route 2 from Annapolis into Edgewater to honor Special Warfare Operator Petty Officer 1st Class Patrick Feeks who was killed on August 16th in Afghanistan.

Feeks, 28, was in a helicopter that crashed during a firefight with insurgents.

Feeks body made its way from Dover Air Force Base early this morning and the procession will make its way along route 50 and Route 2 into Edgewater and the George P. Kalas Funeral home.  Residents have been encouraged to line up along the route, with flags to honor this American hero.

A viewing for Feeks will be held on Tuesday.

A funeral service will be at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Myer Memorial Chapel in Arlington. Feeks will then be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

Unfortunately, the fanfare surrounding Feeks death and homecoming did not escape the radar of the Westboro Baptist Church who plans to picket at his funeral (graphic language) on Wednesday at Arlington.
