Anne Arundel County police are advising motorists to take alternate routes during the 37th Annual Annapolis 10-Mile Run on Sunday. he race is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. with nearly 5,000 runners participating. The event is hosted by the Annapolis Striders and will be held in Annapolis.
Police Seek Pair Using Stolen Credit Card In Laurel. Anne Arundel County detectives said they are looking for two people who tried to use a stolen credit card. Police said the pair was caught on surveillance camera on Aug. 3 at the Game Stop store at 14203 Baltimore Ave. in Laurel. The man and woman were attempting to use a credit card that was stolen from a parked vehicle in Maryland City Park at 565 Brock Bridge Rd. in Laurel. Authorities said several thefts from cars took place there over the past several months.
Glen Burnie Man Faces Drug Charges. Police said a 29-year-old Glen Burnie man faces several drug-related charges. Detectives were called to the 300 block of Mountain Ridge Court in Glen Burnie after report of possible shots fired in the parking lot at 7:35 p.m. Monday. Authorities said they detained a man matching the description of the person involved in the call and found about 3 ounces of suspected crack cocaine with a street value of more than $10,000.
Teens Killed In Ellicott City Train Derailment Tweeted Photos Minutes Before Death. Two 19-year-old women were killed in a massive train derailment that also crushed several vehicles and closed the main streets of the town in Ellicott City. According to National Transportation Safety Board officials, sometime around 12 a.m. Tuesday a 3,000-foot 80-car CSX coal train traveling from West Virginia to Baltimore derailed as it headed through Ellicott City traveling 25 mph, sending 21 cars off the tracks.
