Fire Department Seeks Help In Food Lion Arson Case

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department is seeking the public’s help in providing information regarding a fire that occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012.

At that time, Anne Arundel County Firefighters responded to a reported commercial building fire at the Food Lion located at 356 Mountain Road in Pasadena.  The first units to arrive on the scene reported light smoke conditions in the building.  An investigation into the source of the smoke revealed that an illegal pyrotechnic device was placed on a shelf and ignited resulting in the smoke conditions within the store.  Witnesses at the scene have provided information pertaining to the following descriptions of two possible suspects:

  • Both white males
  • Both approximately 14-15 years old
  • Both approximately 5’6″ to 5’10” tall
  • One was wearing a black and white striped shirt with shorts.
  •  The other was in a white tee shirt with a design, words, or logo on the front.
  • Neither wore glasses

A review of security video revealed the above subjects matching the description provided by the witness. While the facial features are not very clear, however, the clothing and the design on the backpack are somewhat distinctive.

At the present time, investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in this case.  The investigation into the incident is ongoing and investigators are asking anyone who may be able to identify the persons in the attachedpictures and/or provide additional information about this incident to contact Anne Arundel County Fire Investigators at 410-222-TIPS (8477).  As always, any information received can be anonymous (persons do not need to leave their name or any contact information).
