Man Dead In Hit-And-Run; Driver Later Surrenders . Anne Arundel County police said a man died Sunday in a hit-and-run, and the driver who left the scene turned himself in hours later. County police received a call shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday reporting a man lying unresponsive off the edge of the roadway on Solomon’s Island Road north of Harwood Road. Officers arrived at the scene and determined the man had died.
Man Charged In Annapolis Triple Stabbing . Annapolis police arrested a 25-year-old man Friday night in connection with a triple stabbing earlier in the day. Marcus Levon Freeman faces multiple charges, including second-degree attempted murder and three counts of first-degree assault. He is being held on $1.25 million bond at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
Damning Depositions Released In Leopold Harassment Case . WBAL-TV 11 News has obtained what are being called damning depositions of three members of the Anne Arundel County police force in the harassment case against County Executive John Leopold. The lawsuit was filed by former county employee Karla Hamner, who is accusing Leopold of harassment and retaliatory termination. The case is separate from the criminal charges against Leopold that allege he misused his security detail.
Senate passes Pit Bull Bill During Special Session . Senators passed a bill to change state law to respond to a court ruling that determined pit bulls are “inherently dangerous” animals. The Senate voted to pass the measure Friday evening. The bill addresses an April decision by Maryland’s highest court that created a breed-specific, strict-liability standard for owners of pit bulls or pit bull breeds. Under the ruling, a pit bull owner could be liable for a dog bite without previous evidence of a dog being dangerous.
