The Pediatric Group Hosts Children’s Book Collection For Parole Rotary Club Of Annapolis

The Pediatric Group, an award-winning pediatric practice with three locations in Anne Arundel County, has partnered with the Parole Rotary Club of Annapolis for their book donation program.

Drop boxes in the Pediatric Group offices in Crofton, Davidsonville and Severna Park, have been placed to collect used children’s books through August 31st for the nonprofit group, Books for International Goodwill (B.I.G.). The charity is a project of the Parole Rotary Club of Annapolis.

B.I.G.’s mission is to provide basic educational tools for schools and libraries worldwide. Their team of volunteers has shipped 5.3 million books over the past 15 years to impoverished communities in Africa, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, as well as to U.S. troops, Peace Corps volunteers, students at mission-sponsored schools, children living on Native American reservations and to individuals in communities recovering from natural disasters.

Books for International Goodwill President Steve Frantzich, says, “We help the less fortunate improve their education and welfare by sending thousands of books throughout the world that helps people advance their learning and economic well-being.”

As an established local medical office whose providers have loyal patients, the Pediatric Group is well-positioned to successfully partner with a charitable cause like Books for International Goodwill. “The community has always supported the Pediatric Group,” says Robert G. Graw, Jr., M.D., chief pediatrician for the Pediatric Group, “and we, in turn, enjoy supporting worthwhile endeavors that benefit children in communities near and far.”

“We are delighted that the Pediatric Group can help us collect books from the community,” says Frantzich. “Not only does B.I.G. want them, we need them.”

B.I.G. also holds book sales every six weeks to raise funds to operate their storage warehouse, purchase packing materials and pay shipping fees. Tens of thousands of good-quality used books are offered at low prices at their warehouse on Capital Drive in Annapolis. For more information, visit www.big-books.org.
