Rock Out And Help The Bay!

Rams Head Promotions and the Chesapeake Bay Trust announced a new partnership today where the Chesapeake Bay Trust, a nonprofit, grant-making organization that funds projects and programs to restore the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers, will be a charitable recipient of this year’s Silopanna Music Festival.   Silopanna, which takes place August 11 at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, is a one day music festival with three stages and over 20 bands for all ages, including headliners CAKE, Citizen Cope and G. Love and Special Sauce.

During the week of July 23-29, Rams Head will donate one dollar from every ticket sold for the festival to the Chesapeake Bay Trust. The Chesapeake Bay Trust will also hold an online raffle, where participants can enter to win two VIP tickets to the festival and a meet and greet with performer G. Love and Special Sauce. The raffle is one dollar for each entry and will run from July 29-August 4. *

“We are incredibly excited about this year’s Silopanna line-up, with a combination of both national and local acts that are sure to entertain a variety of music lovers,” said Kyle Muehlhauser, Rams Head owner and Silopanna Festival Promoter. “By partnering with the Chesapeake Bay Trust, we are also able to support a local organization and cause that is important to so many Marylanders: saving the Chesapeake Bay.”

Since 1985, the Chesapeake Bay Trust has awarded more than $45 million in grants that support Chesapeake Bay restoration, community outreach and environmental education projects.  Each year the Trust funds about $5 million in grants in every county in Maryland and Baltimore City.  For the tenth consecutive year, the Trust has received a “Four-Star Rating” from Charity Navigator, placing the organization in the top 1 percent of charities nationwide.

“Partnering with the Silopanna Music Festival is an excellent opportunity for the Chesapeake Bay Trust to reach Marylanders and educate them about how they can help the Chesapeake Bay,” said Molly Alton Mullins, director of communications and development at the Chesapeake Bay Trust. “We are honored to work with Rams Head to raise funds and teach residents about what they can do to improve their communities and protect their local rivers and streams.”

In addition to the exceptional performances, the Silopanna Music Festival will also feature 30 unique vendors, including gourmet food trucks from Washington, D.C.  Last year’s inaugural Silopanna Music Festival was cancelled due to arrival of Hurricane Irene, which caused millions in property damage from high winds and resulted in the power loss for thousands.
