Boy Dies In Brooklyn Park Drowning. A boy who was found unresponsive in a pool in Brooklyn Park on the Fourth of July later died at a hospital. Anne Arundel County fire officials said crews were called at about 9:45 p.m. to the 600 block of Old Riverside Road. A preliminary investigation indicated the 3-year-old boy was taken to Harbor Hospital in serious condition. 11 News confirmed Thursday morning that he later died.
BGE Driver Injured In Annapolis Crash. A Baltimore Gas and Electric bucket truck overturned in Anne Arundel County on Wednesday, injuring the driver. A 32-year-old man is in serious condition after truck he was driving overturned on Route 665 at Chinquapin Round Road in Annapolis. Police said the crash occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and the driver was taken to Shock Trauma.
Driver Helps Police Thwart Pole Theft. An observant driver helped police thwart a theft on Monday. State police said that while emergency crews were busy manning intersections due to inoperable traffic signals caused by the recent power outages, two thieves tried to steal a highway light pole. Officers said just before 9 a.m., Maryland State Police got a call from a driver who said they noticed a suspicious pickup stopped on the ramp from eastbound Interstate 695 to southbound Route 2.

The Las Vegas-style opening of Maryland Live! casino has drawn a half million visitors during just 24 days of operation, exceeding expectations by generating more than $28 million in revenues — more than half the statewide total of $40 million for the month of June. Casino operators are not surprised.
