Gambrills Drug Bust Nets Marijuana, Illegal Weapons

On July 27, 2012, Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Special Enforcement Section along with the Special Operations Section executed a search and seizure warrant at 528 Watts Avenue inGambrills, Maryland. The search warrant was in reference to illegal drug manufacturing occurring at the residence.

In early July, Detectives received several complaints about marijuana being grown and cultivated at the aforementioned address. Through an investigation, detectives identified the owner/resident of the address and were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Upon execution of the search warrant, the owner/resident, Nicholas Dominick, was located in the residence. A subsequent search revealed 46 mature marijuana plants growing in a fenced in portion of the back yard of the residence. Each plant was approximately five to six feet in length with an approximate street value of $50,000. In addition, Detectives located and seized 11 handguns, five shotguns, eight rifles with one being an assault rifle (AK-47), numerous ammunition magazines, boxes of shotgun, rifle and pistol ammunition, a marijuana growing book and a Tupperware container containing marijuana seeds inside of the residence. Of the 24 guns, 10 were registered. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will follow-up to determine the legality of the unregistered weapons.

528 Watts Avenue is within 1,000 feet of Arundel High School located at 1001 Annapolis Road in Gambrills, Maryland. The Special Enforcement Section has notified the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s School Safety Section about the arrest and seizure. At the time of the search warrant, summer school was not in session at Arundel High. The suspect, Charles Vincent Dominick, 53, of 528 Watts Avenue in Gambrills, Maryland, was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession of a Gun in a Drug Trafficking Crime (2 Counts), Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana in a School Zone, Manufacturing Marijuana in a School Zone and Possession of Paraphernalia (2 Counts). The suspect was released Saturday on 25,000 bond from the Anne Arundel County DetentionCenter.
