Man Charged With Transferring HIV To Boy. Police have arrested a 36-year-old man who investigators said used a smartphone app to find and have sex with a 13-year-old boy, and officials said the man may be HIV-positive. Steven Douglas Podles, 36, was charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, second-degree sex offense and related charges after the boy’s parents accused Podles of having sexual contact with their son.

Police in Aberdeen released a photo Thursday of a man believed to have bound and abducted the mother of famed Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. and drove her car miles away from home. Violet Ripken, 74, of Aberdeen, was taken by a man between 7 and 8 a.m. Tuesday after he pulled out a handgun and forced her into her own car, police said.
