Anne Arundel County Battles 2 Fires, 1 Fatal. A woman died in one of two fires that ignited in Anne Arundel County over the weekend. Fire crews were dispatched to the 3400 block of Newport Avenue in Annapolis at about 10 a.m. Sunday, where arriving firefighters said they saw flames shooting through the roof of a two-story single-family house. Neighbor Quinn Johnson said he saw the fire and immediately told his mother, who called 911.

Nude Man Barricades Himself In Severna Park HomeAnne Arundel County police said a barricade situation in Severna Park ended peacefully. Officers were called to the 60 block unit of Robinson Landing at about 10:42 a.m. Friday for an indecent exposure call. Witnesses told police a nude man was acting in an irrational manner and igniting an unknown substance in the street near that location. When officers arrived, the man fled on foot and barricaded himself in his home.

7 Schools Without Power Today.  Four schools in Anne Arundel County and three in Baltimore County will remain closed Monday due to a lack of power. Brooklyn Park, Crofton Woods, Lake Shore and Pershing Hill elementary schools in Anne Arundel County have no power and will be closed Monday. All school-sponsored programs and activities at these four schools are canceled.

3-Alarm Fire In Laurel Apartment Building Displaces 40. Howard County fire officials are trying to determine what sparked a three-alarm fire in an apartment building Sunday. The fire started at about 6:45 a.m. in the 9700 block of Tiger Lilly Path in Laurel. Crews were battling heavy smoke and fire on the third floor when part of the rear of the building collapsed.
