, 6pm – 8pm, at The Arundel Center, 44 Calvert St, Room 161, Annapolis MD.

Through an Anne Arundel County Grant, the Center is able to provide these classes to Legal Permanent Residents (LPR) to help them with their citizenship exam.

“We teach them to listen and answer to all the questions that they might be asked during their citizenship exam, we do mock exercises and go through the steps that they will be going through the day of their exam, we also help them with comprehending the questions and the meaning of the information they are learning,” said Patricia Omaña, the Center’s executive director.

There are a total of 54 participants in the class and 11 have become citizens already. “We have helped those that have become citizens to register to vote and understand a bit about civics and the political process of the United States,” said Claret Vega, teacher and facilitator of the class.

For more than 11 years, the Center of Help has been assisting new immigrants in Anne Arundel County. Through a variety of programs, the Center has helped individuals and families assimilate into U.S. society and build self-sufficiency with a promising future, assisting over 2,500 people and families a year.

The work of the Center is made possible through generous grants from multiple private and public sources and individuals. The organization is directed by a board of volunteers representing the public, private and non-profit sectors, all residents of the county.

The Center is located at 1906 Forest Drive, Suite B in Annapolis. To learn more about services provided, please visit centerofhelp.org or call Particia Omana at 410-295-3434.
