First Sunday Arts Festival In July

If you are looking for a fun thing to do the weekend before Independence Day, mark your calendars for Sunday, July 1 from Noon to 5pm.

Annapolis is a great place to for our Nation’s birthday, and has many celebration events going on for Independence weekend, including the First Sunday Arts Festival which begins at 12 noon. For five hours – from noon until five — a portion of historic West Street above State Circle is closed to cars and transforms into a fun festival of live music, dance, art and crafts.

The Festival, which continues around the corner into Whitmore Park, is free and a family affair for all ages. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon outdoors surrounded by talented performers, musicians, and over 100 booths of arts and crafts. Plus several of the West Street restaurants become outdoor cafes with perfect seating to watch the fun and people go by!

Live Entertainment on West Street …

  • Bens Bones with Dan Haas – accomplished young singer/songwriter who blends elements of pop, rock, and soul with standout vocal performances has appeared across the country and will perform — from 12-noon – 1:30 p.m. in Wiseman Park.
  • Tom Lagana Quartet – a modern jazz group whose eclectic compositions range from jazz to Afro-Cuban will perform from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. – Wiseman Park
  • Footworks – over 30 years of performing around the world with his unique styles of magic, mime, roller skating and mingling to get others involved in the fun will appear – performing at 2:00 p.m. in the Stan & Joe’s side lot.

In Whitmore Park

  • Zefin – their original music is all about Roots, Rock and Country with great rhythm and strong vocals – 1:00 to 3:00 at Whitmore Park
  • The Pam Ortiz Band – the art of the melody & phrase are key in this singer’s writing. Listen as her stories come alive with the help of these talented musicians – 3:30 to 5:00 at Whitmore Park
