Binghamton Mets

The Bowie Baysox (38-39) continued their hot month of June as they beat the Binghamton Mets (36-40) 7-3 on Wednesday night for their fourth straight win.

The Baysox got off to another quick start in the top of the first inning.  Antoan Richardson led off with a single and stole second.  Josh Barfield then doubled to left to knock in Richardson and give the Baysox the early lead.  After Robbie Widlansky grounded out, Manny Machado homered for the second straight night to give the Baysox a 3-0 lead.

In the third, the B-Mets got on the board.  With two outs and runners and first and second, Jefrey Marte hit an RBI single to make the score 3-1.

Wilmer Flores led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his first home run of the season to cut the lead to 3-2.

The Baysox got a run back in the fifth.  Brian Ward led off with a single and Richardson followed with a walk.  Ward then went to third on a fly out by Buck Britton and scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Barfield to make the score 4-2.

In the eighth inning, the Baysox loaded up the bases.  With one out, Machado struck out, but on the third strike Erik Turgeon threw a wild pitch that allowed Britton to score to extend the lead to 5-2.

The Baysox tacked on two more runs in the ninth inning.  Zelous Wheeler singled with one out and then on a failed pickoff attempt went over to third base.  Brian Ward then hit a sacrifice fly that scored Wheeler.  Richardson and Britton followed with back to back singles and Barfield knocked in his third run of the game with an RBI single that made the score 7-2.
