Annapolis Takes Beating In Storm (PHOTOS)

Late last night, severe storms rolled into the area causing widespread power outages in the area. Currently, BGE is reporting nearly half of their Anne Arundel County customers are without power (94K out of 233k at 9:33am, please check link for up to minute updates).

After a cursory drive through Annapolis, the area seems to have escaped with relatively little damage. There are plenty of trees and large branches down and several roads blocked. One home on Monticello Avenue in the Murray Hill section of Annapolis had two large trees topple on it during the peak of the storm taking out power to the surrounding homes.

We spoke with an Annapolis City Police officer who told us that he had not heard of any severe damage and that most of the current issues were related to traffic control around downed wires and intersections without traffic signals.
