Police Search For Annapolis Rapist. Police in Annapolis are looking for a man who they said raped a woman in a busy section of the city over the weekend. Investigators said the 21-year-old victim was walking by herself along West Street downtown after leaving dinner with friends early Saturday morning when the man dragged her into an alley and assaulted her.

Commercial Firework Injures Glen Burnie Boy. A 13-year-old boy suffered extensive injuries to his hand after a firework accident in Anne Arundel County Monday.  Fire officials said it happened in the 100 block of Ferndale Avenue in Glen Burnie at about  6 p.m. Fire officials said the boy was handling a commercial-style firework, which is illegal in the state of Maryland, when it detonated on ignition.

Police Lead Effort To Prosecute Human Trafficking Perps. Human sex trafficking is an emerging problem in Maryland, according to federal officials. In response, the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention and the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force hosted a seminar Monday to combat the growing problem. Four hundred specialists from state, federal and local agencies, as well as non-profit service providers came together in Catonsville to share ideas and methods.

School Gets Sobering Message On Texting And Driving.  A familiar message sent during prom and graduation season is “don’t drive distracted.” Monday at St. Paul’s School for Girls, Attorney John Angelos showed up with facts and film to make sure his audience “got it.” Angelos started with a warning: “Any alcohol is your system whatsoever before the age of 21 is going to have serious repercussions for you personally.” The message hit home.
