The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille opened its newest location in Annapolis; an 8,500-square-foot casual dining restaurant/sports bar at 177 Jennifer Road, opposite the Sheraton Annapolis and a short distance from Westfield Annapolis Mall. Part of the Annapolis Restaurant Park, the new restaurant features two outdoor patios providing an additional 3,500 square feet of space for guests, a separate party/meeting room for private events, an assortment of big screen TVs for sports broadcasts and, of course, The Greene Turtle’s legendary array of fan-favorite and house-specialty comfort foods and craft and commercial brews.

Guests of the new restaurant may be seated at tables or booths in the dining area, enjoy an al fresco experience on the patio, or socialize with friends at the bar, which features a bench seating area that has been a consistent hotspot at other Greene Turtle locations. Wherever they position themselves indoors, guests will have a multitude of big-screen TVs overhead on which to watch and root for their favorite teams. Two state-of-the-art 12-foot screens with theater-quality Epson projectors and more than 50 overhead 55- and 60-inch TVs ensure unobstructed views of the sports broadcasts from anywhere within the restaurant. In addition, each booth is equipped with its own programmable flat-screen TV offering a selection of family friendly shows, and a jumbo 20-foot inflatable screen will be set up to air major sporting events and for special occasions.

The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. Directions, information on special events, menus, photographs and other details are available online at http://thegreeneturtle.com/locations.php and on Facebook under “The Greene Turtle Annapolis,” or by calling (410) 266-7474.

As with all locations, the Annapolis restaurant will feature The Greene Turtle’s famous menu of comfort food and local and mainstream beverages. Updated regularly with new offerings, the menu currently features more than a dozen burger options, a satisfying selection of bite-sized sliders, 10 varieties of chicken wings, flatbread pizzas, chicken and crab dips, sandwiches, soups, salads, wraps and full-course steak, chicken and fish entrees, combining to offer something to suit every palate.

Annapolis will also have its own branch of The Greene Turtle’s famous Mug Club. For a one-time fee, guests may purchase a branded, numbered ceramic mug that be maintained on-site at the restaurant for their exclusive use. Mug Club members receive discounts on their favorite draft beer, invitations to partake in special members-only events and offers, as well as other benefits.

Many others in addition to Mug Club members will gather regularly at The Greene Turtle of Annapolis. The restaurant will draw in the crowds with live bands, remote radio broadcasts, Karaoke and Trivia nights, sponsored events and fundraisers via The Greene Turtle’s “Funds for Friends” program, which lets local groups receive up to 10 percent of the restaurant’s revenues in exchange for the group encouraging its members and friends to visit the restaurant on a specific, pre-determined date.

The Greene Turtle already has several other sites in Anne Arundel County, including a restaurant in Edgewater across from its corporate headquarters, and another in Pasadena that opened last fall.

“We’re delighted to be bringing another Greene Turtle to the county,” said Derek Fink, a partner in the group that operates the Pasadena and Annapolis sites and will develop at least one more locally in the future. “Maryland loves The Greene Turtle, and we love giving our neighbors another spot to enjoy food and drink with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming many of them in the near future.”

Is it going to suck as much as the rest of their locations?  Or will this location have good food?
