Fire Destroys Home Near Marley Station Mall. A fire fully consumed a house blocks away from Marley Station Mall in Anne Arundel County.  SkyTeam 11 Capt. Roy Taylor reported the fire ignited at a house on Ridgewick Road in Glen Burnie shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Smoke was visible for several miles. Fire officials said no one was injured in the blaze.

MD Transportation Authority Expects Bay Bridge Closures. Preservation and maintenance work could close lanes on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge next week, causing traffic delays. The Maryland Transportation Authority announced Thursday that the three-lane westbound span could close overnights from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Tuesday (May 29), Wednesday and Thursday overnights, in addition to 11 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday. As a result, two-way traffic would operate on the two-lane eastbound span.

Smoking Bag Found On Tarmac At BWI Airport.  A tense moment over apparent smoke at the airport Thursday gave way to relief, and the quick action by security strengthened the confidence of the flying public.  A piece of baggage looked like it was smoking shortly after noon Thursday on the tarmac of Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. It turned out to be spray from an aerosol can.

Marine Found Dead At Ft. Meade. A Marine was found dead in his barracks room Wednesday afternoon at Fort Meade, according to a statement released by Col. Sean Gibson. Fort Meade emergency crews pronounced the Marine dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released. The Marine was assigned to the Marine Corps student training detachment. A cause of death remained under investigation.
