Murderer To testify Against Cousin In Murder For Hire Plot. A convicted murderer will testify against her cousin Tuesday to describe his part in an alleged murder-for-hire plot against a Glen Burnie dentist. Shontay Joyner-Hickman pleaded guilty in February to murdering her boss, Dr. Albert Ro, in 2006. Prosecutors said Joyner-Hickman enlisted her cousin, Dante Jeter, and two other men to kill Ro to cover up the fact that she was embezzling funds from the doctor.
Meeting Set To Explain BGE Smart Meters To Public. Baltimore Gas and Electric will hold the first of three meetings Monday night to discuss the installation of the new smart meters that will begin this month. BGE will hold the meetings in Anne Arundel County to inform residents about the smart meters being installed at homes and businesses. The Pasadena area will be one of the first in the service area to be equipped with the new meters. The open house starts at 6 p.m. at the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire House on Solley Road in Glen Burnie.
Odor Reported At BWI, Some Concourses Cleared. Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport had to clear portions of two of its terminals due to an unusual odor early Monday. According to a BWI Twitter feed, the odor was reported in Concourse B shortly before 9 a.m. As a precaution, fire and rescue officials cleared parts of concourses A and B for a time. Both screening checkpoints in those concourses were reopened by 10 a.m., and passengers were allowed full access again.
Special Session Begins, Both Sides Rally. Lawmakers returned to Annapolis on Monday to again begin work on fixing the state’s budget, likely via income tax increases and shifting teacher pension costs. State lawmakers blame each other for not reaching a budget agreement during the regular session. Many legislators headed to the capital Monday with heavy hearts for the first of a three-day special session.
