Severna Park Accountant Wins Top Honors From US Small Business Administration

Ann FurstGardiner & Appel, an accounting firm based in Severna Park, MD, is pleased to announce that Ann Furst, CPA, has been named the  2012 Maryland Accountant Champion of the Year by the US Small Business Administration (SBA). Maryland’s business community is fortunate to benefit from Anne’s strong leadership and tireless advocacy efforts.

Each year the President of the United States declares national small business week in celebration of the contributions of the small business community to the nation’s economy. The SBA holds an annual awards competition to recognize outstanding small business owners and the champions who support them.  Winners will be honored at the 2012 Maryland Small Business Week Awards Luncheon to be held Friday, April 13th at Martin’s West in Woodlawn, Md.  The three-tiered program seeks nominations from every SBA District Office in the country. Nominees compete within their own Districts; winners advance to the Regional competition and then finally compete at the National level. National Small Business Week activities will be held in May, in Washington, DC.

Ms. Furst joined Gardiner & Appel as an associate accountant in 2009.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD.  Ann is responsible for the marketing and development of new clients.  She works closely with new clients in the areas of business counseling and tax planning.  Ann also assists in the preparation of individual tax returns.
