Lawmakers Begin Last Day Without Finished Budget.  Maryland lawmakers are heading into the last scheduled day of the legislative session on Monday without a finished state budget, setting the stage for an unusually busy ending to the General Assembly’s 90-day session, which is scheduled to adjourn at midnight.Usually by now, a panel of House and Senate negotiators has completed their work reconciling differences between budget measures passed by the two chambers.

Coast Guard Rescues Man From Atop Stricken Boat.  A man rescued from a capsized boat in the Severn River is recovering at University of Maryland Shock Trauma, officials said.Officials said the incident occurred in the Severn River near Annapolis at about 9 a.m. Sunday.A pilot spotted a man on top of the vessel waving near the Annapolis anchorage. U.S. Coast Guard officials said the man may have been on top of the boat for nine hours.

Annapolis Fire Department Rescues Bunny Rabbit.  The Annapolis Fire Department rescued a bunny rabbit Saturday.At about 8:18 a.m., a squad was dispatched to 319 Bloomsbury Square to assist someone with an animal trapped in a fence.Rescuers found an injured rabbit that was entangled in a chain link fence. The crew extricated the rabbit and transported it back to the Taylor Avenue Fire Station where they administered first aid.

Police: Man Flees After Hitting Hydrant, Cars, House. A man struck a fire hydrant and several parked cars before hitting a house Friday afternoon in Anne Arundel County. Officials said a man hit the hydrant and cars on Hilltop Road in Annapolis before ultimately hitting a house in the 700 block of Bywater Road shortly after 2 p.m., officials said.Police were able to arrest the man despite his fleeing the scene.A man and his granddaughter were in the house at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.
