The Bowie Baysox (5-9) scored three late runs against the Akron Aeros (8-4), but it was not enough as they lost 4-3 on Wednesday night.

Each starting pitcher was able to pitch into the fifth without allowing a run.  After Akron’s starter, Steven Wright worked his way through the top of the inning, the Aeros offense got on the board.  Cole McCurry hit Davis Stoneburner with a pitch to start the inning and with one out Chun Chen singled to put runners at the corners.  Adam Abraham then knocked them both in with a two-run triple and Ryan Rohlinger followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Abraham to make it 3-0.

The Baysox got on the board in the sixth inning.  L.J. Hoes drew a lead off walk and with one out stole second and went to third on a throwing error by Roberto Perez.  Then with Brandon Waring batting, Hoes scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 3-1.

In the seventh the Baysox got another run back.  Caleb Joseph walked and Travis Adair singled to begin the inning and then Antoan Richardson bunted them both into scoring position.  Robbie Widlansky then pinch hit for Buck Britton and hit an RBI single to make the score 3-2.

The Aeros answered back in the bottom of the inning with a two-out single by Kyle Bellows to bring the lead back up to two runs, 4-2.

Caleb Joseph once again cut the lead back down to one in the eighth inning on a solo home run to make the score 4-3.

McCurry got the loss in the game going 4.1 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits.

Wright picked up the win for the Aeros.  He went six innings and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out seven.

The Baysox return to Bowie on tomorrow for a seven-game homestand that includes Pie Day and appearances by current and former Washington Mystics and Wizards players.

The first game of the homestand is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.  RHP Zach Clark (0-1, 8.44) will be on the hill taking on the SeaWolves’ LHP Jared Wesson (1-0, 9.00).
