NASA Flies Discovery Over DC. Space Shuttle Discovery, which launched in 1984, delights space fans one last time. Eye On Annapolis was also invited to the ceremonies and captured many images here as well.

Man Arrested, Charged In Officer’s Hit & Run In Anne Arundel. The suspected driver of a vehicle that police said was responsible for hitting an Anne Arundel County officer while he was conducting a traffic stop has been arrested and charged.Police said Leo Carroll, 22, was found by officers around noon Monday in the Lothian area. He was charged with numerous traffic-related offenses and has since posted bail.

3-Alarm Fire Spreads Among Glen Burnie Townhomes. Anne Arundel County firefighters say a three-alarm fire that spread to three townhomes in Glen Burnie could have caused as much as $400,000 in damage.

Chesapeake Bay Gets D+ In New Report Card. Heavy rains and a hot summer harmed the Chesapeake Bay’s health last year.The University of Maryland’s Center for Environmental Science gave the bay a D+ on Tuesday in its latest report card on the state of the bay.The grade is the second lowest since assessments began in 1986. The worst year for bay health was 2003.The center said heavy spring and fall rains washed pollutions and sediments into the bay, and a hot dry summer spurred algae blooms that lower oxygen levels.
