Several months ago, a new restaurant opened in the Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole called Saladworks. Just the name itself, is right up my alley, and from the first time we went, it has been a favorite! Bright orange, purple, and green walls decorate the space, along with a poster size picture of the franchise owners. There are plenty of tables for eat-in dining, and online ordering is advertised for quick carry out.
Here’s how it works. You select five items from a huge variety that are displayed to create your salad. You tell the helper what you want, and they make the salad right before your eyes. They start with a very generous portion of a romaine/iceberg mixture and you take it from there! There are also a number of salads that have prescribed ingredients that can be ordered, such as a Greek or Cobb salad. I haven’t gone that route yet, because I prefer making it ‘my own’, by selecting from the very fresh, yummy choices. Oh yes, and you can add additional items for 79 cents each.
On this particular visit, I chose honey chicken, shredded carrots, chunks of swiss cheese, chickpeas, and craisins. Your choice of dressings can be tossed in or served on the side. They feature low fat selections with calorie content. Each salad comes with a remarkably delicious toasty white or wheat roll that is baked right there! You can also order soup and a half salad, which my husband had. He said the chicken noodle soup was very good! Meals are served in large attractive bright white plastic bowls.
Choices for drinks are limited. I usually select a diet ice tea in a bottle. I wish they provided Snapple as a choice. (Hint, hint.)
Saladworks has a loyalty card program that has worked out very nicely for us. On this visit, we exceeded the amount of points needed for a free salad for the second time! Yes, when we like a place, we go back! Maybe that’s why one of the owners always remembers us.
