On April 9, 2012, at approximately 5:51 p.m., officers from the Southern and Western Districts responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at Davidsonville Road near Rossback Road in Davidsonville.
Officers arrived on scene and located two vehicles in the roadway with heavy front end damage. Anne Arundel County Fire Department Personnel pronounced both drivers dead at the scene. Crash Investigators from the Traffic Safety Section were dispatched to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2002 Honda Accord was traveling north on Davidsonville Road when it drifted off the right side of the roadway just off the paved surface. The operator overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to travel back onto the roadway across the double yellow lane lines into oncoming southbound traffic. The operator of the Accord collided just offset of head-on with a 2000 Cadillac SLS as she attempted to gain control and move back into the northbound lane.
Preliminarily, driver error appears to be a contributing factor and there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were factors, but the investigation is ongoing.
