AACS Celebrates Rock Around The Clock

Annapolis Area Christian School (AACS) will hold its annual Spring Benefit and Auction on Saturday, April 21 at the AACS Kilby Athletic Center (Upper School) beginning at 6:00 pm.  AACS holds the auction each year to raise money for the Annual Fund.  This year’s proceeds benefit technology improvements throughout the Pre-K through 12 academic programs.  Themed, “Rock Around the Clock With Us”, the auction will feature 1950’s trivia, hula hoop contests, and rock’n performances by AACS student groups including AACS Men of Note, Bell’Arte, Women’s Choir, and Madrigal Singers.  Also this year, a unique group comprised of AACS teachers and students will celebrate the School with an air instrument performance of the Inflatables, a sure to be crowd pleaser.

In addition to entertainment, the event includes a 1950’s dinner catered by the local café, Main Ingredient, as well as silent and live auctions. Guest bandstanders, jitter buggers, greasers and poodleskirt wearers, will be welcomed into a Sock Hop and Drive-In setting of auction items with the opportunity to bid on items such as student artwork, tickets to professional sporting events, a ride in a vintage aero-plane, a local chartered fishing trip, vacations, a juke box and a Pink Poodle!  For some AACS inspired nostalgia, a quilt needled from former AACS attire, uniforms, and spirit wear will be up for the bidding.

“It is a pleasure to work with a diverse auction committee of AACS parents and faculty in organizing such a fun event this year.  We are looking forward to a great evening of 1950’s style fellowship with our lower, middle and upper schools parents and faculty to not only help support our students, but to celebrate them along with our teachers and families in a way that reminds us how blessed we are to be part of a Christian community, said Mary Griffith, AACS Decorations Chair and mom of an AACS 3rd grader and 11th grader.  “We are going to have a fun evening where we can reminisce of times where sock hops, diners, and drive-ins were the “in thing” — all to help provide technology for our academic programs and the future of AACS students.  Whether you bop till you drop, sing doo wop songs or bid on “cool” items, this year’s auction will be a “swell” time for all,” she added.

This year’s event underwriters include Pediatric Dentistry, Valpak of the Chesapeake, Minuteman Press of Glen Burnie, Chick-Fil-A , and Pro Object.   Tickets for the AACS auction are available for purchase at $25 each with table sponsorships also available.  To buy tickets, sponsor the event, or learn more, please visit www.aacsonline.org or call 410. 266.8251 x116.
