Teen Summit

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County’s Diplomas to Degrees Program in partnership with the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth and Families’ Teen in Partnership Program will host the ANNE ARUNDEL TEEN SUMMIT on Saturday, April 28. This event will be held at the Bates Branch of the Boys & Girls Club located at 121 South Villa Avenue in Annapolis, Maryland, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Teens in 6th to 12th grades are invited to participate in a day of indoor and outdoor activities, food, fun and education administered through the BGCAA Diplomas to Degrees Program and sponsored by Darden Restaurants. Breakout sessions discussing various teen awareness topics will include college readiness and preparation, drug and substance abuse, safe social media usage, depression and suicide, discrimination and stereotyping, and STD and safe sex education.

The Teen Summit will include a resource fair and forum for parents to discuss students pursuing a college degree, the truth about financial aid, safe social media usage, prescription drugs, College versus military options and much more.

Teens attending the Summit will be addressed by BGCAA’s Executive Director, the Mayor’s office, the County Executive’s Office, Executive Director of the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children Youth and Families, and leaders from the Anne Arundel County School System. They will also be invited to accompany the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County members on a College tour to be held on June 1, 2012.
