Westboro Baptist Video Recap

The Westboro Baptist Church has moved on to their next picketing site and the throngs of counter-protesters are back at home, work or school. All in all, the protest was a success if you will. The Westboro Baptist Church was able to voice their opinions. The nearly 500-strong crowd was able to voice theirs right back. The freedom of speech is a right that both sides are granted by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department and the Anne Arundel County Public Schools worked well together to insure the safety of everyone at the site.  According to Justin Mulcahy, spokesman for the police department, there were no arrests and they estimate the crowd to be between 400 and 500.

The Glen Burnie High School used the event as a teachable moment and held many discussions on the rights granted by the Constitution.

Our video of the event captured the sounds and the tension of the afternoon. We spoke with the counter-protesters as well as members of the Westboro Baptist Church.
