Racial Messages Stir Controversy At Towson.  Lingering flames of racial tension among Towson University students have been fanned to high levels after “White Pride” was scribbled on sidewalks all over campus.At Towson University, students use chalk to write messages or promote events on campus sidewalks, but a recent chalking by one group is raising eyebrows because it has divided students. On Thursday, students gathered for a forum on campus to discuss their thoughts and concerns about the messages.

Same-Sex Marriage Advocates Launch Petition. A week after celebrating the signing of legislation to legalize same-sex marriage, supporters of the unions are working to fend off an attempt to overturn the law.Marylanders for Marriage Equality, a coalition of organizations that back unions for same-sex couples, will host a series of community meetings on their plan to uphold the law should it be petitioned to the November ballot.

Anne Arundel Firefighters Vote No-Confidence In Chief. The Anne Arundel County Professional Firefighters Local 1563 voted no confidence in Fire Chief John Ray Thursday night.There are more than 700 registered union members, but only 410 votes were received, meaning not all of the eligible members voted. The online vote was 396 “yes,” or in favor of no confidence, and 14 “no,” or against no confidence.

Mild Weather Great, But Could Lead To Pests. The extreme mild weather the Baltimore area has enjoyed lately is great for those who like being outside, and it’s even good for some maintenance issues, but experts say the weather could cause problems later in the spring.Baltimore’s Department of Public Works said the mild season has helped it to cut its backlog in maintenance by two-thirds, and it’s seen nearly half the number of water main breaks this winter as compared to last.
