Elderly Man Injured In Burglary, Shooting. Anne Arundel County police are investigating an early-morning home invasion that left an 82-year-old man injured.It happened about 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Sleepy Hollow in Severn. Although police haven’t released the victim’s name, neighbors have identified him as Bob and said he is a familiar presence on the street.”He walks up and down here with his cane, talks to everybody,” said Mark Mercilliott, who lives nearby.

Mustache-Grooming Bil Finds Controversy In Maryland. An interesting — and hairy — plan for a tax break for some Americans is causing some controversy in the U.S. Congress.Baltimore fell in love with the mustache this winter when Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco began sporting a Fu Manchu, spawning “Fanstashe Fever” across Ravens nation. Now, the American Mustache Institute wants Congress to approve The Stache Act, a $250 tax deduction for men who keep their facial hair in shape. The act has been forwarded to the House Ways and Means Committee.

Board Approves Marriage Referendum Question.  The Maryland Board of Elections approved on Wednesday the language written for the referendum question regarding same sex marriage.The approval delivers to opponents of same sex marriage in Maryland the framework needed to begin gathering about 56,000 signatures required to put the issue on the ballot.

Income, Not Gas, Tax Hike Proposed To Balance Budget. A proposal to increase Maryland’s personal income tax could replace the governor’s proposal to phase in the state sales tax on gas prices, key Maryland senators told 11 News on Wednesday afternoon. WBAL-TV 11 News reporter David Collins said the Senate is tearing the governor’s budget apart. Senators said public outcry over the gas tax plan convinced them to consider other options.
