Parent Involvement Conference

Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Office of School and Family Partnerships is providing yet another opportunity for parents to become involved in the education of their children at its annual Parent Involvement Conference, scheduled for Wednesday, April 11, 2012. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Church at Severn Run, located at 8187 Telegraph Road (Route 170) in Severn.
The theme of this spring’s conference is “Nourishing the Whole Child.” Superintendent Kevin Maxwell will join participants for breakfast and will address the group.
Participants will be able to choose three one-hour workshops to attend from a variety of different topics. They include “Positive Parenting,” “Diagnosing and Treating Attention Deficit Disorder,“Mental Wellness for Young People,” “Let’s Read Together!,” “Healthy Students, Healthy Schools,” “Hands on Equations,” and “Teen Drug & Alcohol Abuse: What Parents Need to Know.” In addition, three of the sessions will be offered in Spanish. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Registration is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Child care will not be available at this conference.
