Glen Burnie Man Arrested On Attempted Murder Charges

On March 15, 2012, at 11:23 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 800 block of White Avenue in Linthicum for a report of a domestic-related shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 59-year-old female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her lower torso. The victim indicated that her boyfriend shot her before fleeing the residence on foot. Officers canvassed the area and were able to locate and apprehend the suspect on Andover Road. Evidence at the scene along with interviews with the victim and an independent witness revealed that the couple was involved in a verbal argument that became physical resulting in the male suspect assaulting the female. The female, who was being actively assaulted, retrieved a handgun in an effort to defend herself. The victim pointed the handgun at the male suspect and told him to leave the residence. At that time, the suspect grabbed the handgun from the victim, pushed her on the floor and shot her in the lower torso. The suspect was then confronted by another male resident of the home and sustained injuries during an altercation with that male resident.

Both the shooting victim and the suspect were transported to Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment. The shooting victim is in stable condition at this time. The suspect was treated and released. The suspect is being charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, First and Second Degree Assault, Use of a Handgun in the Commission of a Violent Crime and Reckless Endangerment.
