Ballet Theatre Of Maryland To Perform At BMA

Ballet Theatre of Maryland (BTM), the state’s premier professional ballet company, will be performing On the Move II, a one-night mixed-repertory engagement at the Baltimore Museum of Art, on Saturday, March 31.

On the Move II features something for everyone – from the romantic to the edgy, classical to contemporary – including the pas de deux from Don Quixote and BTM original works Tango Dramatico, Primal Dreams and Episodes.

Set to music by Ástor Piazzolla, Tango Dramatico is a series of vignettes – including Seduction and Oblivion – that brings to light the hidden stories of nightclub patrons through Latin dance.  Primal Dreams is a contemporary dance with a Native American influence focusing on a man’s journey to self-awareness via the four elements of the Medicine Wheel – Air, Fire, Earth and Water.  In the abstract Neo-Romantic piece, Episodes, the melodies of Rachmaninov set the backdrop as a pair of lovers weaves through a series of interludes.

On the Move II will be performed at the BMA’s Joseph & Rebecca Meyerhoff Auditorium at 7:00pm on March 31st.  Tickets are $33 for adults, with discounts available for students, seniors, children, military and BMA members.  Tickets may be purchased through the BTM website (www.balletmaryland.org), the BTM office at 410.224.5644 or at the door.
