There was a huge counter-protest outside Glen Burnie High School on Tuesday afternoon as Marylanders pushed back against a group nationally known for its protesting and extreme stance against homosexuality.The grassroots groundswell rose up Tuesday after the controversial Westboro Baptist Church announced plans to protest outside the school.

Fire Damages 2 Homes In Riva. Two homes were damaged Tuesday night after crews said a two-alarm fire erupted in Anne Arundel County.Just before 10:30 p.m., firefighters said they responded to the 400 block of Porpoise Lane in Riva to battle flames that threatened to burn down two single-family homes.Officials said the fire started in one house, then spread to the porch of an adjacent home.

Man With Pitchfork Threatens Linthicum Homeowner. Police are looking for two men who shot at a Linthicum homeowner early Monday morning, one of whom was armed with a pitchfork.Anne Arundel County police were called to a home in the 6800 block of Harrison Avenue about 5:30 a.m. Monday for a report of a possible burglary with shots fired.The 46-year-old homeowner told police that as he was letting his dogs out, he confronted two men near the front of his home, one of whom had a pitchfork.

Anne Arundel Police Probing Fatal Pedestrian Accident. Anne Arundel County police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident in Churchton that could be linked to a camper fire.Police said shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, a woman was struck and killed in the 5500 block of Muddy Creek Road after she ran into the road in front of a Chevy Tahoe.The woman, who hasn’t been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.Investigators said at about that same time, they received a report of a camper that had caught fire in the woods near that location.
