Officers Continue ‘No Confidence’ Vote Against Leopold. Rank and file Anne Arundel County police officers will continue their no-confidence voting process Tuesday against County Executive John Leopold and Police Chief James Teare.Two weeks ago, the lieutenants and sergeants in the police department issued a similar vote. The community on Monday during a board meeting also called for the leaders to resign.For his part, the Republican county executive said he’s not going anywhere. Leopold was indicted Friday on charges of misconduct in office on allegations that he misused his police security for his own political and personal benefit.

Man Seriously Injured In Brooklyn Park Fire. A midday fire in Anne Arundel County left a homeless man seriously injured and a vacant house damaged.Crews were called to the 4500 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park at about noon Monday after getting reports that a house was on fire.Firefighters said they rescued a homeless man from the vacant house and took him to Bayview Burn Center with serious, life-threatening injuries. The man wasn’t immediately identified.

Naval Academy Applications On Track To Break Record. The U.S. Naval Academyis on pace to receive more applications this year than last year’s record number, the academy’s dean of admissions told the Board of Visitors on Monday.As of March 1, the academy had received 20,602 applications, compared to 19,138 at the same time last year — about a 7 percent increase. The academy has received 4,819 applications from women, up from 4,490. Minority applications rose to 6,956 from 6,657.Dean Latta, the dean of admissions, noted a significant increase in the number of students who already have indicated they will attend. The academy has offered admission to 1,021 students, and 369 students already have accepted.

Police: Girl Found Dead Was Playing With Gun.  A 13-year-old girl reported missing in northeast Baltimore over the weekend was playing with a gun with a friend when it fired, killing her, police said Monday afternoon.Family members identified the victim as Monae Turnage. Police said the teenager was accidentally shot by a .22-caliber rifle that she and her friends were playing with.
