Sweet Transvestites Coming To Anne Arundel Community College

Richard O'Brien

Auditions are set for 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 13 and Feb. 14, for the Anne Arundel Community College Theatre at AACC April production of “The Rocky Horror Show.”

That sweet transvestite and his campy crew did the time warp in this classic campy tale of Frank’n’Furter and his band of miscreants. Complete with sass from the audience, cascading toilet paper and an array of other audience participation props, this deliberately kitschy rock ‘n’ roll sci-fi gothic is more fun than ever.

Auditions take place in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Come to one of the two auditions and prepare 16 bards of music from a musical other than “Rocky Horror.” Be prepared to learn a dance routine and do cold readings from the script.

All roles are available except the role of Dr. Scott. Auditions are open to the community as well as AACC students.

Written by Richard O’Brien, the show is directed by Lars Tatom, AACC assistant professor of performing arts and the Theatre at AACC coordinator. Musical direction is by Douglas Brandt Byerly, associate professor and department chair of performing arts with choreography by Tommy Parlon, an AACC dance instructor and artistic director at Tommy Parlon Dance Projects.

Rehearsals will start Monday, Feb. 27, with performances April 12-21. For information contact Lars Tatom at 410-777-7125 or [email protected].
