AAMC Foundation Plans Gala To Benefit AAMC Heart And Vascular Institute

Planning is underway for the 2012  Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) Foundation Gala on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 Midnight at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore.  The theme for this year’s signature event is “Rhythm & Rouge,” and proceeds will support the national-award winning AAMC Heart and Vascular Institute.

The AAMC Heart and Vascular Institute is a comprehensive program offering exceptional emergency, interventional and surgical care.  It features a dedicated Heart and Vascular Unit, vascular screening, surgery and treatment, cardiac-catheterization, interventional medicine, emergency angioplasty, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and interventional radiology.  It is also a participant in the C-PORT E program, offering elective angioplasty services to our community.  The AAMC Heart and Vascular Institute is nationally recognized as a standard for care and treatment of heart attack patients and is the recipient of the 2011 Gold Performance Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology.

Two new additions have been added to this year’s gala festivities:  a $20,000 diamond ring raffle and an exclusive commissioned painting by renowned local artist Liz Lind that will be included in the live auction.

In record time the 300 Raffle tickets for the 2.85 carat lady’s diamond ring sold out.  The drawing for the ring, donated by a local estate and valued at more than $20,000 by Tilghman’s Jewelers, will be held at the gala on April 28th.  “We are thrilled with how much excitement this has created in the community and how quickly the tickets sold,” said Virginia Owens, this year’s auction chair.  “I think the drawing for this ring will be one of the highlights of the evening.”

The painting by Liz Lind is being created exclusively for the AAMC Foundation Gala and will be a featured spotlight item in the live auction.  Although the artwork will not be unveiled until the evening of the event, Lind is dropping hints about its theme. “Blue Birds and Blossoms,” a new original created for AAMC’s 2012 Gala, features willow blossoms and blue birds in a cheerful, colorful trumpeting of Spring! In addition to the raffle and commissioned painting, the evening will feature dinner, dancing to the live music of the band, “Prime Time,” and both silent and live auctions.

“Jill and I are very excited about this year’s Anne Arundel Medical Center Gala,” said Rick Springer, President, Chesapeake Region, BB&T, who with his wife, Jill, are co-chairs of the 2012 event.  “It promises to be one of the most exciting and distinctive affairs in the area.  We are truly appreciative of the efforts of our gala committee and the support from our sponsors and partners.”

This year’s Presenting Sponsor is Comcast.  Platinum Sponsor is AAMC Medical Staff; Gold sponsors currently include BB&T Bank, Crystal Spring Annapolis, What’s Up Magazine, WRNR Radio.  Annapolis Lifestyle and The Shore Magazines, MDICS, Whiting-Turner, Hyatt & Weber Attorneys at Law, Delex Fairfax ISS & Delex Systems, along with Severn Savings Bank have signed on as Silver Sponsors.

The annual gala is organized by a committee of volunteers in cooperation with the AAMC Foundation staff. Sponsorships start at $5,000 for a table of 10, and there are a variety of sponsorship packages and marketing opportunities available.  Individual tickets are available for $300 each.
