New Rules Make Maryland Judgments Harder To Obtain. Often with just a person’s name, last known address and Social Security number, a debt collection company or buyer could show up in District Court and obtain a judgment against that person.The state’s highest court has brought that practice to an end with a new ruling that requires far more proof before a judgment is issued, said 11 News I-Team reporter Lisa Robinson.The Maryland Judiciary rules committee said the flood of debt collection cases filed in District Court prompted the rule change.

Ravens Home Playoff Game Good For Business.  Baltimore Ravens fans will be chomping at the bit as thousands of playoff tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and local businesses said the game will be good for them, too.Several thousand seats for the divisional playoff game on Jan. 15 will be available for purchase online or over the phone.But that just scratches the surface of the playoff fever that’s consuming fans who are gobbling up all things Ravens with the 2011 playoff logo.

Water Main Break Affecting Anne Arundel County Fixed. A water main break in the Brooklyn Park section of Baltimore that was affecting water service to some parts of northern Anne Arundel County has been fixed.Department of Public Works crews were called to the break at a main along Patapsco Avenue on Monday morning.The DPW said service was restored by noon, but some customers were still experiencing outages after that time.Residents experiencing discolored water should run a faucet for several minutes until it’s clear. If it doesn’t clear by then, call 410-222-8400.

Code Blue Activated For Tuesday And Wednesday. Baltimore City officials have activated a Code Blue alert for Tuesday and Wednesday due to a big drop in temperatures.11 News meteorologist Tony Pann said Tuesday morning that an arctic cold front has moved in, and some flurries might be possible through Wednesday. He said the wind chill might also be a factor in the cold temps. The Baltimore area is forecast to only get up to 29 degrees on Tuesday.The Code Blue declaration means that emergency shelters in the city will keep extended hours and emergency workers will check up on vulnerable residents.
