Glen Burnie Man Charged In Hit And Run Of Bicyclist. Anne Arundel County police said a driver has been charged in a July 2011 hit-and-run that sent a bicyclist to Shock Trauma. John Harrison Correlli, 57, has been charged with leaving the scene of a collision and negligent driving, among other charges.Police said Marco Garcia, 41, was biking northbound on Crain Highway near Georgia Avenue on July 14 when he was hit by a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene at a high rate of speed, according to investigators.

Mayors Cook Up Seafood Showdown In Football Bet.  The mayors of Baltimore and Boston met in the nation’s capital days ahead of the AFC Championship game to hammer out a friendly wager, among other official business. Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Boston Mayor Tom Menino were in Washington on Thursday serving together as chair and vice-chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Food Policy Task Force, respectively. The mayors set aside some time at the conference to place their wagers as the Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the New England Patriots on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Rallies Push For Gas Tax, Against Big Banks. A rally calling for a hike in the state’s gas tax was held in Annapolis on Thursday, while many in Baltimore protested big banks.At the Annapolis rally, a coalition of Maryland business groups said they hope to persuade lawmakers to increase funding to transportation by $800 million. They also want to make sure funds raised stay in the transportation budget.Gov. Martin O’Malley is expected to make an announcement in the coming weeks about his plans for a gas tax increase.
