Driver Dies After Crofton Crash. Anne Arundel County police said a woman died after a Tuesday night crash in Crofton.She was identified as Angela C. Biggins, 35, of Gaithersburg.The crash occurred just after 8:30 p.m. in the area of Route 3 and McKnew Road. Police said a 2000 Toyota Corolla driven by Biggins collided head-on with a 2000 Mercedes.”Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Route 3 in the southbound lanes,” police said in a news release.

Poll: Economy Still Top Concern In Maryland. As the 2012 General Assembly session gets under way, a new public opinion poll shows that the economy is still a top issue in the state.The information comes from a Gonzales Research and Marketing poll conducted earlier this month over the phone. It surveyed more than 800 voters across the state, 56 percent of whom were Democrats, 30 percent were Republicans and 13 percent were registered Independents.

‘Poe Toaster’ Tradition Ends After No-Show.  Thursday marks the 203rd anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe’s birth, but the mystery man in black who for decades marked the occasion the night before with a visit to Poe’s grave never showed — and the tradition has finally been buried.People were posted in and around the Westminster Cemetery overnight to see if the “Poe Toaster” came to add the traditional roses and cognac to the fresh flowers that are seen resting on the writer’s gravesite, but the man never came.

Glen Burnie Man Arrested In Columbia Shooting. Howard County police have arrested a Glen Burnie man in connection with a Columbia shooting that occurred Jan. 11.Eric Brandon Miller, 25, was charged with first- and second-degree assault, police said.Officers were called to a Sam’s Mart store in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road on Jan 11. Marcus Lee, 20, had been shot and ran into the store for help, police said.Investigators believe the shooting was drug related.
