Police: Glen Burnie Man Tortured, Family Forced To Watch.  A Glen Burnie man told 11 News that he was burned with a hot knife and iron as his family was held captive during a home invasion and robbery last week.Although the family is still in shock and said they fear for their lives, they decided to tell their story in hopes of getting the culprits behind bars and to prevent another similar incident from happening to another family.”I have some third-degree burns to my hands. They might have to do some skin grafting,” said the victim, who 11 News will call Ted to conceal his identity.Anne Arundel County police said on Jan. 11, Ted was on his way back to his home in the 6500 block of Cedar Furnace Circle when three armed and masked men suddenly forced their way inside and demanded money.

Water Main Break Closes Senate Office Building. A water main break in Annapolis sent water into several Senate offices, WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Dave Collins reported. The break affected the water line that goes into the building’s cupola. Collins said three inches of water gushed onto the fourth floor and that two inches were on the third floor.State Sen. James Robey said he heard water rushing and came down into the lobby.

Annapolis Barber Wins MLK Award. A Maryland man has been recognized as a hero for giving back to the community and continuing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.Rob’s Barbershop Community Foundation, a nonprofit run by barber Rob Cradle, is located in a transitional housing facility in Annapolis.”Volunteerism is more than just being nice and being helpful. It’s actually about solving problems,” Cradle said.He started RBCF in 2001 to give haircuts, shaves and grooming products to people living in transitional housing. Over the past 10 years, he’s helped more than 6,000 people working to get their lives back on track.

Missing Boater’s Body Washes Ashore In Annapolis. Anne Arundel County fire officials said the body of a man missing for about a month washed ashore Monday morning in Annapolis.A dive crew and paramedics were called just before 8 a.m. to the 2200 block of Chesapeake Harbour Drive.The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by Department of Natural Resources Police as Tyler Cordrey, 25, of Eden.Cordrey was one of three people tossed into the bay on Dec. 17 when a sailboat they were riding in capsized.

Arundel Mills Casino Opens Employment Center. The new casino coming to Arundel Mills has opened an employment center to fill more than 1,500 positions.Although the casino will not open until June, eager job seekers formed a line Monday that wrapped around the employment center. Many of the people 11 News reporter Barry Simms talked to called the jobs a much-needed opportunity.Recruiters at the employment center helped applicants determine what positions would be a good match. The casino’s Joe Weinberg described the ideal employee. “We’re looking for people with dynamite personalities, people who want to work in a vibrant environment,” he said.
