Police Probe Robberies In Glen Burnie

Anne Arundel County Police are investigating several recent robberies in Glen Burnie. From County Police spokesman, Justin Mulcahy:

Ritchie Highway

On January 1, 2012, at approximately 12:21 p.m., officers from Northern District responded to the Giant Grocery Store located in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway for a report of a strong arm robbery of a citizen.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 50-year-old female victim, who indicated that she was walking in the parking lot of the grocery store when she was approached from behind by a suspect, who attempted to forcefully remove the victim’s purse. After a struggle, the suspect was able to obtain the purse and fled the area on foot. Despite an extensive search by officers, the suspect was not located. The victim was not injured during the incident.

 Americana Circle

On January 1, 2012, at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 7800 block of Americana Circle in Glen Burnie for a robbery that just occurred.

Upon arrival, responding officers spoke with the victim, an adult male cab driver, who advised that he picked up two subjects in the area of Liberty Circle and gave them a ride to Americana Circle. Once they arrived at that location, one subject exited the vehicle to go get money to pay for the fare. A short time later, a different subject returned to the cab, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the victim and all three suspects fled on foot. Responding units and a K-9 unit searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.

Suspect #2: Black male, approximately 16-21 years old, 5’10” with a thin build, wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood

Suspect #3: Black male, approximately 16-21 years old, 6’2” with a thin build and a goatee and wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood
