Folger-McKinsey School Returns Home In April

Students and staff members at Folger McKinsey Elementary School will enjoy a newly renovated school building with state-of-the-art technology when classes resume after the Easter/Spring break.

Folger McKinsey students have been housed in Chesapeake Bay Middle School since August 2010 while construction on the $27.2 million building has taken place. The schedule now calls for students to resume classes in the renovated building, located at 175 Arundel Beach Road, on Thursday, April 12, 2012.

To accommodate the move and allow classrooms to be set up for instruction, the Maryland State Department of Education has granted a four- day waiver of the 180-school day requirement. There will be no classes for Folger McKinsey students on the following dates:

● Thursday, March 29, 2012

● Friday, March 30, 2012

● Tuesday, April 10, 2012

● Wednesday, April 11, 2012

The school will also operate under new hours after the move. Beginning on Thursday, April 12, 2012, classes will start at 9:20 a.m. and end at 3:45 p.m.

Because of the waiver, Folger McKinsey students are still scheduled to end the school year on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, the same day as other students.
