Attempted Murder In Brooklyn Park

On January 8, 2012, at approximately 8:07 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 300 block of Orchard Avenue in Brooklyn Park for a reported domestic assault.

Upon arrival, officers located the 37-year-old female victim inside the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers also located the male suspect in the residence suffering from apparent self-inflicted stab wounds. Officers learned that the suspect and the victim were married. Northern District officers arrived on scene and provided first aid to both the victim and suspect. Fire Department personnel arrived and transported both individuals to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where they are currently listed in serious, but stable condition.

Criminal Investigation Division detectives arrived on scene and initiated an investigation. Witness interviews were conducted, search warrants executed and evidence was gathered and processed. The suspect is in custody and under police supervision at Shock Trauma. The suspect will be formally charged and processed at Northern District upon his release from the hospital. The suspect will be charged with First Degree Assault and Attempted Murder.
