Fire dispatch initially reported three fatalities and it was increased to four shortly thereafter. Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene and one died at the hospital.

While police have not released a report, a nearby resident told Eye On Annapolis that it appears that it was a head on collision caused by a vehicle heading westbound in the eastbound lanes.  Currently, according to the SHA, two of the three eastbound lanes remain closed.
